Brochure for the UNCDF YouthStart pilot project
With 1.2 billion young people worldwide entering the workforce, youth employment remains a major global challenge, particularly in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) where economic opportunities are scarce. In response, from 2010 to 2015, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) piloted a programme in eight African countries, offerning young people affordable, relevant and accessible financial products, coupled with complementary non-financial services.
The brief
To develop a brochure in English and French on the evaluation of YouthStart's pilot project, as well as a series of reports communicating the business case and programme outcomes. The brochure needed to provide a clear case for investment and collaboration.
Our approach
We combined data-driven insights with case studies from programme participants. These included stories like one shared by Eric from Togo, who saved enough money through YouthStart to buy a bicycle for school transport. This narrative approach helped to connect individual experiences with programme impact data.
Visual language
The brochure design captures personal stories alongside programme achievements using sepia-toned photographs of young participants, complemented by blue concentric curves and infographic elements that simplify key statistics.
The deliverables
A 16-page bilingual brochure, optimised for web and print, to be used in global forums, stakeholder meetings and policy discussions.
The highlights
The brochure serves as an action-oriented roadmap for scaling youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives in LDCs, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
