E-Learning course on the Multisectoral Approach to managing vector-borne disease
The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), hosted by WHO, focuses on research and capacity building to combat diseases of poverty. To support implementation research on vector-borne diseases, WHO/TDR commissioned an e-learning course on the multisectoral approach (MSA) to managing vector-borne disease. This course provides structured learning on integrating different sectors—such as health, water, and sanitation—to strengthen disease control strategies.
The brief
Lushomo was engaged to create an e-learning course to accompany TDR’s guidance framework on the MSA. The course needed to be engaging, accessible, aligned with WHO’s strategic learning objectives and available in both English and French.
Our approach
Using a storytelling and conversation-based approach, we worked closely with WHO subject matter experts to distill the complex information into learning modules. We then sourced and developed multimedia content, interactive learning exercises, and video resources, all built in Articulate Rise and hosted on Moodle for tracking, assessments, and learner engagement.
Visual language
The course design builds on the vector-borne disease website branding, using a clean and airy interface with photos from the WHO gallery to support the content and showcase real-life examples of multisectoral approaches.
The deliverables
This e-learning course is structured as a six-module programme, each incorporating a mix of multimedia and interactive content, including quizzes and clickable Q&As, content to engage users and reinforce learning.
