Ghana Early Childhood Development Dashboard

The Ghana Early Childhood Development Dashboard is an interactive tool that allows users to track key early childhood indicators across national, regional, and district levels. They can also explore data on maternal health, child health, nutrition, and development, and use filters to focus on specific areas for deeper insights.

The brief

In partnership with a Ghana-based team, Lushomo was asked to develop an interactive Child Health and Development Dashboard that supports data-driven decision-making. The aim was to consolidate key indicators on child health, nutrition, education, and socio-economic factors, allowing stakeholders to track trends, identify gaps, and allocate resources to improve child well-being in Ghana.

Our approach

Our collaborative UX process focused on developing simple navigation, easy filtering and comparison of key indicators, and the option to view data in a matrix form or on a map. We also explored the needs of different user groups and responded to them by allowing users to “pre-filter” data before launching the dashboard. Tooltips, which appear on hover, provide extra context without overwhelming the user. The design is fully compatible with both mobile and desktop devices, ensuring easy access for policymakers and field teams on-the-go.

Visual Language

Clear, structured design and colour coding allows for easy interpretation and distinguishes themes like health, nutrition, education, and socio-economic factors. Consistent typography, minimalist icons, and interactive visualisations – such as charts and heatmaps – enhance readability and navigation.
