Launch video for the Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent Health (GAMA)
Adolescents comprise more than 16% of the global population. Investing in their health will benefit not only their own adult lives, but also those of their children. In 2018, the WHO established the Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent Health (GAMA) advisory group in collaboration with UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, the World Bank Group, and the World Food Programme (WFP). GAMA’s aim is to provide standardised guidance and support countries in collecting meaningful data to track progress in adolescent health.
The brief
As GAMA's communication partner, Lushomo was asked to develop various materials, including a technical report, infographics and social media assets, and an impactful launch video. The video needed to integrate pre-recorded interviews with young people to create an emotive, one-minute piece for the launch of the report.
Our approach
We began by transcribing the interview footage to identify key themes and inform the structure and script. A look and feel was then developed for the opening and closing slides, and supporting design elements. The overarching goal was to use the adolescent interviews to effectively convey GAMA's core message around the need to involve adolescents in monitoring and making decisions about their own health.
Visual language
The video's look and feel mirrors the colourful design of indicator report. The pacing and music was intentionally curious and upbeat, in-keeping with its youthful subjects.
The deliverables
The short but impactful video was designed to let adolescents speak for themselves and encourage a positive response toward the broader goal of the GAMA project.
