The background

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) presented a paper, entitled Effects of climate change on the social and environmental determinants of health in Africa: What can communities do to strengthen their resilience, at the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference COP21/CMP11 in Paris, France.

The brief

To design and layout the technical paper, and produce an accompanying presentation for the WHO Regional Office for Africa to present at a WHO/UNEP side event at COP21.

Our response

For this report, we used a bright orange and yellow colour palette, along with infographics, icons, and black and white photography. Text and graphics from the report were repurposed for a PowerPoint presentation.

Photography and graphics
Photography and icons were used to summarise the eight factors of the community and adaptation plan.

We designed a range of social media assets to promote the conference and the health and environmental issues that were discussed. This process involved drawing out key messages from various reports, creating sketches, and designing the graphics.

Flow charts
Flow charts and icons were used throughout the document to show the linkages between different aspects of the community-based health and adaptation plan.
